09/16/05: Update on finances

Thanks to everyone who has donated to The Rolling Duffel Project.

Our semi-updated finances:

Total Collected - $ 6,334.01
Total Expended - $ 5,442.10

These numbers are a bit deceiving; we're waiting on the invoice on the Koozie coolers, which should be around $475.00, and updates for the items Kendall purchased this week aren't shown either, which are well over $1000. We also expect a donation to arrive shortly from Seane Corn which will cover some of what has been purchased to go out this weekend.

I have to admit, when I sent out my first email to a few friends and family two weeks ago, I thought it would be nice if I could deliver five, or maybe even as many as ten, rolling duffels to families in Dallas who were forced from their homes from Hurricane Katrina. I had no idea that people from across the country would open their hearts to give to our little effort... and I certainly would never have dreamed that we would have given out 86 rolling duffels to evacuee families.

Never underestimate the power of the communications, whether by word, email, or the internet... or the goodness of people.

I'll update again after we make more duffel runs this weekend.
