09/09/05: Latest updates
I got in my car around lunchtime today to head down to Reunion Arena to distribute more rolling duffels. I loaded up my four-year-old, who is perfectly healthy today but couldn't go back to school since he was sick yesterday, and started the car. Put it in reverse, hit the gas, and... nothing. My car won't go backwards. Car wouldn't leave driveway. Drats!
So on Saturday, I'll try again in my husband's car.
Meanwhile, here's a financial update on our accounting, for everyone who's curious:
Total Collected: $ 5,344.01
Total Dispersed: $ 5,356.45
You'll see that we've distributed a total of 70 bags. If you do the math, you'll see that we've successfully reduced our price per bag down to less than $80 per bag. This, of course, is constantly in flux, as some bags get different items than others, and our bag prices vary anywhere from $20 - $40 per bag. We also have more bags going out this weekend, which I haven't factored into the average bag price as of yet. But things are looking good - and it's making a difference to every family we meet.
More tomorrow after we make another run...
