09/03/05: Thanks to everyone
After my email yesterday to friends and family, I've gotten a wonderful response. The Rolling Duffel Project is moving forward today.
I don't have time to write much at the moment, but I am heading out shortly with a friend here in Dallas. We are going to hit Costco out in the burbs, and pick up as many rolling duffels as we can. From there, it's back downtown to try to meet up with families that need the bags and goods.
At this point, The Rolling Duffel Project is just me and a couple of friends/family here in Dallas. I'm going to see how today goes, and what happens. So at this point, if you've already pledged a donation, follow though if you can. If not, hold off for a bit - let me make sure that the logistics of this operation succeed.
If today is a success, I'll evaluate how everything went, and open the door for more donations - many of you have asked if you can send the original email on to friends and family.
Also, a special thanks goes out to Kendall Inman at Living Yoga Dallas and GoodBody's Yoga Center in Dallas. After receiving my email yesterday, Kendall arranged to give a special benefit yoga class on Monday at GoodBody's to benefit the hurricane victims and The Rolling Duffel Project. The class will be Monday morning, and donations in any amount will be accepted prior to the class. For more information on the benefit yoga class, contact Kendall at Living Yoga Dallas at 214-739-1605. If there's no answer, email Kendall at kendall AT livingyogadallas.com - she will be out with me today as we collect and fill duffels for families sheltered in Dallas.
One more thing. If you've donated to The Rolling Duffel Project, let me know if it's okay to thank you publicly here. I'd be happy to do a blurb on your business, or any personal notes you'd like included.
